Binary package hint: unity
When launching an app and closely watching its 'glow' animation while it starts up, you can see a glow around the icon that clearly shows gridwork (I would say it looks 'scaly').
I believe the background of the launcher used to have gridwork all over it. And I'm assuming this glowing animation is still showing the gridwork from that time. It looks odd to have it still be there.
