I had the same error message when I change the status offline with me menu but I do not know if this has caused

I have this error when switching status too. Also when using the "Quit" option from the Empathy menu

This error seems to occur when internet access is disrupted on the network.

Steps to reproduce:

1)connect to network.
2)open chat.
3)disable internet access on network (for example from using your router configuration page.)

This bug occurred without me doing anything special. No idea where it came from.

I'm also logged into MSN via the IM client in my N900 (using pecan rather than haze) ; this error occurred a lot this afternoon and this evening.

I seem to be getting this crash frequently when I come back to my computer after being away for a while. I would assume, based on the other comments, that I'm losing an internet connection for a period of time while I'm gone.

You can get it in the empathy help, debug dialog by selecting butterfly in the combo, check for informations you don't want to share before adding it there though and clean those or just copy the chunk before the crash

This happens eventually after I join or disconnect from my work VPN. When this happens, my external IP changes and so does my default route.

I also get this crash occasionally when changing status using the me menu.

the bug has been fixed upstream now, the change will not be in lucid due to the freeze in effect now but in a stable update

Might it be appropriate to backport the change? This bug appears to be rather serious, and in a component of ubuntu-desktop.

Hey, I have this
ii telepathy-butterfly 0.5.11-0ubuntu1 MSN connection manager for Telepathy
and I'm still getting this crash.

How I know it is this crash is because apport lets me report and then it brings me straight to this page telling me that it is this bug ("already been reported").

Try to reinstall the package.

Then reboot the computer.

I found this error message when I left my computer on overnight (to run a few downloads) and when I unlocked the screen I found the error message. Not sure what caused it though.

I received this error today upon attempting to exit Empathy.

How come I'm still getting this error if a fix was released?

I'm also getting this error, and it is not related to the network going down, just going online makes this error happen.

Apport sended me to this bug... even if it normaly doesn't exist since it has been fixed.

Crashed on Maverick too. MSN has been playing up the last few days, requiring telepathy-butterfly be killed in order to connect.

For the crash at resume, I think this is Bug #497746.
