unable to set GRUB_TERMINAL to gfxterm

Bug Description

Binary package hint: grub2

with GRUB_TERMINAL=gfxterm in /etc/default/grub, update-grub fails with:
Invalid terminal "gfxterm"

$ LC_ALL=C apt-cache policy grub-pc

This problem does not appear in debian's version grub2-1.96+20080413-1, I've extracted and attached a patch.
