Bug Description
Binary package hint: grub-pc
Migrating to grub2 was painless. However, it is not trivial to add a menu entry for other operating systems. Mostly because of the astonishing lack of documentation. How can it be that grub2 has been in development since 2002 and in all that time hardly any documentation was written? The only usable clue to configuring grub2 seems to be the list of installed files of the grub-pc package! In any case...
How about detecting windows from a script in /etc/grub.d/ ? See the attachment, an unpolished example script. It works for me.. the script looks for NTFS partitions marked as bootable, and adds a menu entry for them. I'm sure we could elaborate on the example, for example search for other bootable partition types.
