[unity-5.6] can't enter accents (^o->ô) in the dash since recent updates

Bug Description

That seems a recent regression, I use "icône" and "liste" often to test the hud and that was working until recently, you could press ^-o and get a ô in the dash, now it displays "^" directly so you get "^o"

This is because we no longer pass events through GtkIMSimpleContext, restoring that will fix this issue.
