If you still have this system around, could you send me the file /var/log/likewise-open-install.log so I have some additional detail?

Look through it first to make sure it doesn't include anything you don't want to expose online -- though I think it only contains results from commands specific to likewise-open.

Sure scott, attached.

I removed it this morning with synaptic, I have forgotten when and why I
installed it. Probably to attach to a windows domain at a former
employer. I don't need or use it, but if you have a fix, I will
re-install it for tests.

Thanks for the log, but it will be a while before I have a solution as I'm going to be away from keyboard for a week.

      from the link that affect runtime behavior and prevent building when
      autotools are re-run
    - modified debian/rules to regenerate autoconf files so Makefile.am changes
      are picked up and to make future patch work easier

    - Corrected package version in descriptions
    - Corrected dependency versions based on upstream documentation
    - Corrected spelling of 'savely' to 'safely'
