I get the same results on the i386 edition of Maverick, except I don't know where the History select is.

Maybe I did not express correctly, there is a selection field that says Network Address, and has a pull down menu. It is always blank. Example in the attached image.

I thought it collected the previous addresses used to ping or trace route, for quick access. But it doesn't.

Of these issues, two have already been reported (bug #359315 and bug #496983), so I'll change the title to just mention the third issue (traceroute column headers).

summary: - ping does not work not history is saved and tracerout columns
- information is wrong
+ traceroute column information does not match headers

Setting to low. Now we should look upstream to see if it has been reported.

No current or past upstream reports at Debian and Gnome. After some investigation, the summary of the issue is that Ubuntu uses tracepath instead of traceroute, and the default output of tracepath changed since that original ubuntu patch.

I'd like to work on this as my initial Ubuntu patch, sometime over the next week.

Can someone from bug-control please mark this as Triaged and assign to me, assuming they agree ?

@Gary: if this (I have not yet seem the source) due to a local (i.e., Ubuntu) patch? If so, yes, please go ahead and update it, and attach it here; otherwise, please open a Gnome bug on that, link it here, and propose the patch.

@C de-Avillez, yes the fault was due to a local patch. I've done an update, do you want the attachment to be a diff against the "Ubuntu source" (i.e. a further Ubuntu patch), a diff against the faulty Ubuntu patch, or a replacement for the faulty Ubuntu patch. Or a ppa?
