TESTCASE:
Try to play a videoclip using a videoplayer such as totem, mplayer (with xv) and see if the red/transparent checkerboard pattern is visible on top of the video.

This is mainly a bug fix release and the added support for the new xserver won't affect Lucid. I think it's absolutely safe to include this update in the LTS release.

Can you please get this into maverick first and smoke-tested there, per the standard SRU rules?

Per Alberto's request, on Monday I installed 195.36.24-0ubuntu1
on Lucid. I have not observed issues since the driver upgrade
during the past 2-3 days.
.
I can also confirm the Nvidia checkerboard bug plaguing Xvideo
appears to have been fixed, as noted by nvidia's change log.

Colin, per your request I removed 195.36.24-0ubuntu1 and
then installed 195.36.24-0ubuntu1~10.04 from lucid-proposed.
.
It's been about 48 hours since installation with no observable
issues to report. If further testing or reporting is needed please
let me know.
