I am having the same problem. It seems to be related with "X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain=nautilus" getting added at the top of the /usr/share/applications/nautilus.desktop file (actually all nautilus*.desktop files I had a glance at look that way).

Also, starting nautilus from a terminal results in the following output before dumping core:

(nautilus:12768): EggSMClient-WARNING **: Could not load desktop file '/usr/share/applications/nautilus.desktop': Key file does not start with a group

Removing the first line from /usr/share/applications/nautilus.desktop fixes things for me, looks like something in the build system is messing up those desktop files. Some applications seem to be able to cope with that though, but at least nautilus is not.
Attached is the broken desktop file.

After another quick check I noticed that this is related to problems in cdbs (langpack.mk to be precise, which adds X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain to the .desktop files, possibly LP: #535650).

This should be fixed as of 1:2.29.92.1-0ubuntu3.
