Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager-openvpn

Editing the IPv4 routes option in the UI to, e.g. add a route or tick the "use this connection only for resources on its network" doesn't seem to work properly - the option changes never make it to gconf. I had to make the changes manually

Indeed, any change done in this tab is lost.

is this a general problem for ip4 settings for you or just for vpn? can you try to change various ip4 settings also for wired and wireless and report if that works for you?

also start nm-applet from console (killall nm-applet first) and while editing you should get a few errors. at best post all the output you get after starting nm-applet when reproducing.

I can confirm this is a general problem for all IPv4 dialogues such as this one. Starting from the console doesn't really give any useful information, aside from some debugging about connecting to a network, when I configure the VPN I just get:

** (nm-connection-editor:2864): WARNING **: Invalid setting VPN: ca
** (nm-connection-editor:2864): WARNING **: Invalid setting VPN: cert
** (nm-connection-editor:2864): WARNING **: Invalid setting VPN: key

(these errors appear when loading the dialogue, not when the settings are saved).

I am also experiencing this issue. I downloaded the source network-manager-openvpn_0.8~a~git.20090928t200041.5576f56.orig.tar.gz, extracted it, built it, and installed it. The result seems tho same, the issue still seems present. Is my procedure incorrect? I'd be happy to help test the patch as I am currently having difficulty caused by this bug.

kjelderg ... did you try the openvpn package that is in the trunk ppa? Try to upgrade everything to that ppa and let us know.

PPA is: https://launchpad.net/~network-manager/+archive/trunk

I can confirm that the ppa does indeed fix this problem, and it does look like a dup of the bug listed above.
