Bug Description

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=557819

When using the mobile broadband connection assistant, adding any of the CDMA
profile entries defined in the list of service providers, the connection entry
is mistakenly added as GSM. The latest CDMA providers added to the SVN version
of the list includes Verizon and Sprint which are added as CDMA entries in the
serviceproviders.xml file [1].

The new "CDMA" connection entries also have the advanced fields only associated
with GSM networks... and the default Number is entered as *99#, which should be
#777 for CDMA.

upstream commit that fixes this is: http://svn.gnome.org/viewvc/libmbca/trunk/src/mbca_serviceprovider.c?r1=62&r2=61&pathrev=62

should be quite a simple backport.

I can confirm this, but assume the update has not been pushed as of 11/11. Basically Verizon and Sprint (and most other CDMA/EVDO) use #777. It worked fine after I edited the dial field. The password is different but is apparently not used by Verizon (it uses the ESN, or whatever else for security - you can't connect at all with an unregistered device).

This bug was fixed in the package libmbca - 0.0.4+bzr66-0ubuntu1

---------------
libmbca (0.0.4+bzr66-0ubuntu1) jaunty; urgency=low

  * new 0.0.4 upstream snapshot (bzr66)
    - fix LP: #290625 - New CDMA entries added as GSM
  * add hardy intltool-*in templates (intltoolize -f -c)
    - add intltool-extract.in
    - add intltool-merge.in
    - add intltool-update.in
  * fix LP: #334377 - Lots of country names are missing, showing "missing from
    libgweather" in mobile broadband connection wizard.
    - add debian/patches/lp334377_debian_libgweather_breakage.patch
  * fix LP: #291226 - libmbca doesn't use LP translations; we run intltool-update
    in debian/rules in common-build-arch:: and cleanup generated files in clean::
    - update dbian/rules
