Here are the test cases for each bug (using at least the french locale fr_FR.UTF-8)
bug 44756:
Simply type 1000000.1 (with no spaces) in gcalctool and then toggle on "Show Thousands Seperator". You should have 1 000 000.1 and not 100 000 0,1
bug 53214
Has been marked as a dupplicate of bug 44756 since the upload.
bug 189101
Has been marked as a dupplicate of bug 44756 since the upload.

bug 215580
Use the scientific mode, and do not type anything on the calculator "screen". Click on Func -> Edit the functions. Do not modify anything, just click on Ok --> The program crashes with the current hardy one, while it should not.

The new version works well for me. I'm using the swedish locale (sv_SE.UTF-8) where the thousands separator is a space.

I've reproduced several of the "thousands separator" problems in the 5.22.1-0ubuntu1 package and verified that they are handled correctly in the 5.22.2-0ubuntu1 package in -proposed, in multiple locales. I didn't exercise gcalctool fully, but I didn't notice any regressions in behavior, either.

I can confirm that the package is working as it should with the comma separations and also tested all the problems on bug 189101, 196735, 198381 and 224435 all of them work as expected now.
