Bug Description

In the first phase of appearance on screen something goes wrong and often you can see the workspacename plus background flickering into existence.

Further investigation shows that it flickers during display, the fade seems to have nothing to do with it. The flickering looks like the workspacenames background would loose and gain back transparency all the time.

The branch linked fixes this problem.
