[Macbook Air 5,1] applesmc module initialization fails

Bug Description

The applesmc module initialization fails due to timing issues when communicating with the SMC. The SMC provides access to various sensors as well as fan and keyboard backlight control, so none of these functions are available when driver initialization fails.

Patches to fix this are available in 3.6-rc1.
