See the files and directory in my last comment (I couldn't tell you how to actually write one, it's been forever and I struggled to write a proper one then).

to run all the tests and see kinda what happens, from the top level run:

# ./setup.py test

not the most helpful, I know... spineau or kissiel or someone over there would be better at explaining how to write the unit test.
