Here's a case where it breaks still:

* Have only one application open (dash)
* minimize it
* press alt+tab (spread will show, dash is selected)
* release alt+tab
expected: dash restores
actual: nothing happens
* now launch something else from the launcher
expected: other app launches
actual: other app launches & dash restores
