I submitted this upstream to Marlin but it was rejected.
"Sorry i don't see any reason to change. This term is widespread and used for decades across any file managers. The name of the views focus on the main content or the main characteristic of the view. Which is view of icons in the case of the "icon view" term. If i follow your logic list view should be renamed as treeview and so on ;)
Is this a Not Invented Here syndrome?"
