Discussed with Brian on IRC. This is the authoritative list of team subscribers that are considered owners for packages in main. The sssd team is a small team (two members) with no clear accountability to the rest of the project or to Canonical. I don't think in its current state this team should be considered an owning team for packages in main; packages in main should instead have a "sponsoring" subscriber if necessary (such as ubuntu-server) and sssd should be coordinated through them.
