Bug Description

After a few hours uptime I lose window decoration.

I have asked about it on the irc channel #ubuntu-desktop and was advised to report it as a bug. I was given the command

gtk-window-decorator --replace&

as a workround - which works.

Hi! There was a large update to compiz pushed today. Can you update and see if this is still a problem? Thanks!

Is that available through the normal updates (including 'Proposed')? If it is, then I either already have it (and it has not had any effect) or it has not been made available yet.

Do you have customizations of compiz? Could you try running 'unity --reset' and see if a stock configuration still has the issue?

If this happens again, can you please check ~/.xsession-errors to see if there is an error like the one below (the "serial" number will be different)?

The program 'gtk-window-decorator' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 20155 error_code 3 request_code 20 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
   that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
   To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
   option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
   backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
