Bug Description

Binary package hint: frozen-bubble

By default the nickname (if none given) is truncated to 10 characters (see sanitize_nick function). However, when creating a LAN server, the prefix "lan-" is added. Thus if the username is longer than 10 (mine is 15) it gets truncated to 10 characters plus the 4 of the server prefix.
However, when creating a LAN server, you get an error because the server name is longer than 12 characters.

I have created a small patch that truncate the name to 8 characters instead. So user can play LAN game.

I am going to upload the patch in the next screen, and I will also report the bug upstream.

Huygens, thank you for your bug report.

You attached the whole file instead of a diff showing the differences between the original file and your modified one. Given that frozen-bubble has changed since your original bug report, that file is obsolete, and is very hard to find the differences you applied to the original file.

Please, attach here a diff showing only the changes you suggest to deploy in frozen-bubble, so that we can fix this bug.

This debdiff is based on the patch from Huygens (thanks to bdmurray for helping me).
I'm sending the patch to Debian, too.

This bug was fixed in the package frozen-bubble - 2.1.0-2ubuntu1

---------------
frozen-bubble (2.1.0-2ubuntu1) hardy; urgency=low

  * frozen-bubble: in sanitize_nick, nick is truncated to 8 chars to avoid an
error when starting a LAN server (LP: #96460)
  * Modify Maintainer value to match the DebianMaintainerField
    specification.
