Thanks for your bug report.
I can confirm this issue.

There is a package in debian experimental which builds against the new libtunepimp. It "only" needs filling a UVF exception request, and if ACK'd, merging debian package. I'll take care of this if nobody has done it before. ;)

Here are needed infos for an UVF exception request.
Current feisty version (0.7.3) doesn't build against new libtunepimp (kid3 builds against it since 0.8 release).

I as the author of Kid3 would also suggest updating to 0.8.1. Kid3 0.8.1 is not in debian experimental because it is buggy, but because debian etch is frozen. Besides the support for the new libtunepimp, there is another motivation why to upgrade: The old freedb.org server, which is used by Kid3 0.7, was closed last summer. Kid3 0.8.1 supports the new freedb2.org server, and also Discogs.com and the MusicBrainz release database.

kid3 (0.8.1-1ubuntu1) feisty; urgency=low

  * Merge from Debian experimental.
  * Remaining changes:
    - Run dh_iconcache in debian/rules.
  * No longer depends on libtunepimp3. (LP: #91613)
  * Update for the Debian Maintainer spec.
