Bug Description

A simple
 <keybind key="C-A-l">
    <action name="Execute">
      <command>xscreensaver-command -lock</command>
    </action>
  </keybind>
in ~/.config/openbox/lubuntu-rc.xml should do the trick.

But an option in the application "Shutdown" would be very nice.

Thanks for your bug report. Re-affecting it to default-settings (for the lock screen option in rc.xml) and to lxsession (for the option of the logout dialog)

affects: lxadmin → lubuntu-default-settings (Ubuntu)

Julien, what is stopping us to do such an easy thing?

[Desktop Entry]
Name=ScreenLock
Comment=Lock your screen
Icon=system-lock-screen
Exec=xscreensaver-command -lock
Type=Application
Categories=Settings

That is all what does it really take to add "Lock Screen" as an entry in the main menu :)

I suggest to put "Lock Screen" under Preferences". Wherever it is, one should be able to add it in the LXPanel next to Shutdown or any where else not just in the main menu but most importantly it must be an entry in the main menu.

Thanks!

No, the option should be available with "Restart", "Suspend" ... It needs a few lines of code in lxsession

Based on the changelog, this is "Fix committed" in 0.23, see

  - Add a shortcut to lock the screen (LP: #912499)

Shouldn't this bug be set to "Fix committed"?

Answered re: a different bug... so the answer is "not yet, the fix is still only in the PPA".
