Bug Description

The .desktop file for the Update Manager defines "Update Manager" as the application's GenericName. As the application's name is "Update Manager" too, this seems redundant. This is especially noticeable in the new gnome-control-center shell (a screenshot is attached).

This is true as of 0.53.1

Same problem exists in the Software Sources program

+_GenericName=System update tool
+_GenericName=Software Sources Editor

there is a patch in bug 78935 to fix the language support problem.

Looks like it should be totally closed as bzr contains :

_Name=Language Support
_Comment=Configure multiple and native language support on your system

And no more _GenericName
