Bug Description

CONFIG_BOOT_PRINTK_DELAY enables the use of the kernel command line parameter boot_delay.

SRU Justification

Impact: Kernel oops are difficult to read after scrolling past. This parameter inserts a print delay that is used to slow the output to the console.

Patch Description: Enable CONFIG_BOOT_PRINTK_DELAY. This has no run time impact unless the kernel command line parameter boot_delay is set.

This bug is awaiting verification that the kernel in -proposed solves the problem. Please test the kernel and update this bug with the results. If the problem is solved, change the tag 'verification-needed' to 'verification-done'.

If verification is not done by one week from today, this fix will be dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed.

See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you!

This is a pure debug feature which has no runtime impact unless the kernel parameter boot_delay is specified on kernel boot command line. Therefore I'm marking this as verification-done as this is an upstream feature that demonstrably works.
