Overo support

I confirm that this is currently lacking in the bzr version as well

This should probably be named "overo" which is the name of the module -- that apply to tobi and stagecoach

Is there a bug for an overo hwpack? or does the omap hwpack work?

I have not opened a bug for an overo hwpack. The omap hwpack was able to boot and make it to the bash prompt. However, at that point STDIN didn't work so I couldn't do much validation.

As of today it should be quite straightforward to add support for a new
board. All that's needed is a new BoardConfig class in
linaro_media_create/boards.py. It'd be great if someone with access to
one of those boards could provide a config class for them.

The x-loader source package in Ubuntu has support for Overo, but doesn't build it right now; we should build it and use it in linaro-image-tools.

We also need a new daily hwpack for Overo.

NB: u-boot-linaro already builds an u-boot-linaro-omap3-overo.

Can someone please test the package http://people.canonical.com/~rsalveti/x-loader/x-loader-omap3-overo_1.4.4+git20101223+6f3a261-1ubuntu1_armel.deb for overo and see if that works? It's basically built from the current x-loader upstream tree.

Once it said that it works, I'll request a push into the archive.

Loic, just updated the lp:x-loader branch with latest packaging and
release, including the overo package. Can you sponsor the update?

Don't know if this is helpful, but I've L-M-C patched with overo support. I created an overo hwpack by hand using the x-loader mentioned above and the overo u-boot from:
 https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/natty/armel/u-boot-linaro-omap3-overo/2010.12-0ubuntu1

My L-M-C patch can be viewed at:

The main thing I question about the patch is the 'extra_boot_args_options'. I'm not sure what all options this board needs yet.

This bug was fixed in the package x-loader - 1.4.4+git20101223+6f3a261-1ubuntu1

Andy, actually I think this branch is for maverick; you probably want to start a new branch like the lp:~linaro-maintainers/linaro-images/hwpack.natty.linaro-omap3-x11-base one.

I've created a new branch for this:

I've added a build entry for the project, and just filed a ticket with IS to sync the new images to snapshots.linaro.org

I've asked Jamie to add an ISO tracker entry for Overo

I've tried the latest hwpack with the linaro-natty-headless-tar-20101202-1.tar.gz. The Q/A tracker doesn't seem to have any test cases for Overo yet, but I've verified the following items work:
 * serial console
 * eth0 via DHCP
 * apt-get install openssh-server
 * USB keyboard mostly works (see comment #11 in bug: 706033)

What Doesn't Work:
* Video via the HDMI/DVI connector
  This appears to be a problem in our linaro kernel. I've taken the uboot/uImage from Gumstix and video
  works. I think this may be some sort of kernel config issue. I've been looking into this some in my free time,
  but haven't narrowed down the actual issue yet.
