Bug Description

New upstream bugfix-only release, 2.05, has been released. It contains various fixes for bugs that have been reported since 2.04 release. All of them have been tested in 2.1x branch and then backported to 2.05 - the resulting release has also been tested for some time to see if there are any regressions - none has been reported so far.

One of the bugs that are fixed in this release is this one - suspend inhibition is broken in 2.04.

Testing it is pretty straightforward:
- Launch transmission and enable suspend inhibition - see if the laptop, when left alone while downloading something will go to sleep when torrent is active.

Original description:

Computer goes into suspension even if I tell transmission to inhibit suspension.

This a debdiff that ports the fix from upstream to the maverick package. This package will also be available from my PPA.

Thanks for the patch, I've removed the tag as it's used for SRU verification and this bug isn't yet in -proposed so there is nothing to fix.

We (or rather I) are currently trying to figure out whether it's a good idea to get 2.05 released and pushed into maverick or should I just backport a bunch of highest-priority patches into 2.04. I'll know in few days and then prepare and upload an update.

Here is what would go in the proposed 2.05: https://trac.transmissionbt.com/report/17

Either 2.05, or cherry-picking diffs, are both fine with me.

It looks Ubuntu will accept a 2.05 made up of backports of small fixes & changes as mentioned in the previous comment.

So the plan is this: I think all the changes slated for 2.05 are safe, but kklimonda and I both would prefer to see them tested in the wild before backporting them from trunk to the 2.0x branch. Most of these are already in 2.10 or 2.11, but still won't see official release until 2.12 is released for the Mac in a couple of days. So, I'm going to table the 2.05 backports for a week to see if there are any bug reports filed against 2.12.

I'll upload a package later tonight, then it'll have to get approved by the sru team and it will land in maverick-proposed so it can be tested.

As we have a newer version in natty already, I assume this is fixed there.

Just tested transmission from maverick-proposed. It works like a charm, inhibit suspend functionality works ok.

Laptop is still suspended if lid is closed but it seems like being an unrelated bug with gnome-power-manager behavior (it assumes lid close is an explicit user suspend request like clicking Suspend in session menu.
