Bug Description

We need a keyboard shortcut to bring up the Dash.

Right now, the Dash appears with a 4-finger pinch, but, if the user does not have MT hardware, it is not easy to launch the Dash.

Super+Space can be a good combination. Anyway, it should be configurable.

Didier, are you sure this is Low priority? One of the main benefits of the Dash should be the ability to access to it easily, just like Do does.

I think that, if this not get implemented, people are not going to think Dash is a good replacement of Do.

@Ara: I just match the same priority level on the package that njpatel did on the upstream task.
I know this shortcut has already been discussed and changed. I'm not up to date on what was the latest result.

Tapping the Super key should get you into, and then out of, the Dash.

Despite fixing bug #632581 and having the gconf key set to tree in the schema by default, it doesn't seem to work (it should looking at the relevant commit, no black magic there :)).

Will have a look later this week-end and will chat with dx team about it.

hum, wait, looking closer, the super key is only detected when kept pressed for the launcher shortcut, not for that functionnality. I'll have a look if that can be done in some way.

Yes in Maverick, it's mapped to the shortcuts overlay displayed on top of launcher icons.

My dash comes up when I press the super key, and I'm using unity-2d. It is the default option because I have not changed anything about it.

That's right Jonas but we are in the process of changing that to match Unity 3D.

This seems fixed now, the super key works for me. But Dash is still lacking a lot of keyboard support, e.g. ENTER and TAB comes to mind.
