Bug Description

Binary package hint: inkscape

I am testing Ubuntu 10.10 beta 64-bit version in a LiveCD session.

I installed Inkscape, TexLive and various fonts. However I can not see cm fonts in the Inkscape Text and Font tool.

There is the same version (0.47) of Inkscape on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and there ARE the cm fonts there. They include cmex10, cmmi10, cmr10, cmsy10. They all are missing on the Ubuntu 10.10.

I checked in synaptic

(Computer Modern fonts are the fonts most standardly used in LaTeX systems and many people have good reasons to use them. Even on Ubuntu 10.04 their accented forms specific for latin1 and latin2 sets are not available to Inkscape but this will be for another bug report.)

Martin, thanks for reporting this bug. I can't reproduce it on Maverick with Inkscape 0.47.0-2ubuntu3. The cm fonts all appear correctly in the font list.

Do you know which package the fonts came from? I'm using ttx-lyx. Please could you check that you have that package installed?

Hi Martin,

I noticed that you have also reported bug #640845, in which you describe problems with accented characters in cm fonts. Can I assume that you now managed to fix the problem you describe here?

Hi Alex,

at the moment I can just say that the problem (bug 637400) MIGHT have been because of not actual repository status or something like; I mean that perhaps running sudo apt-get update might help. I am not sure however and will have to check things and let you know. (All my testings of ubuntu 10.10 Maverick run in LiveCD sessions.)

Alex, you were right. There is no such a problem in fact. I have now tested it for both 32-bit and 64-bit Maverick LiveCD distributions. I.e. I can use Computer Modern fonts in Inkscape. (But the other problem, bug #640845, remains as you have also confirmed).
