Bug Description
It seems that mplayer is compiled without joystick-support. In Karmic the joystick support has been disabled by default via /etc/mplayer/
#Disable joystick support
#It seems to cause very odd problems on laptops
#With accelerometers (See LP: #75925)
#nojoystick = yes #
That way people habe been able to explicitly re-enable joystick-support in mplayer if needed. But since joystick-support has been disabled on compile-time there is nothing one can do to use joystick support right now. So please enable "--enable-joystick" at compile-time and disable it again via mplayer.conf for all users, like it was handled in Karmic. Thanks!

Hi,
We will rely on Ubuntu maintainers decision for this one. I guess the support has been disabled for some reason but I couldn't find why.
If it gets enable in Ubuntu, we'll merge the package.
Thanks.
