Applet or Notification Area Option

Yes i also want the alarm clock applet to be an applet it has a better place near the clock applet and not in the notification are with all the other applications :)

Please please make it optional :D

I resolved this issue by instaling the lucid verion from this page https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/lucid/i386/alarm-clock-applet/0.2.6-2

I'm not sure - there's a clear trend both in Ubuntu and GNOME to move away from traditional applets. The reason being that they take up too much space, are not positioned correctly, are inconsistent and generally clutter up the panel. I agree that the countdown timer is a useful feature to have, but I'm not sure it belongs in the panel. Maybe an option could be to show the timer as a dragable "widget"?

App-Indicators have the ability of displaying a label alongside the icon. This feature could possibly be used as an optional countdown timer.

A countdown label has been added to trunk when Alarm Clock is built with application indicators support. Please do test :-)

Indicators use the same space as an applet not more not less

A alarm clock or a countdown timer doesn't belong in an aplet or in the indicator aplet or in the notification are , it belongs in the clock but the closest layout to this is a separate applet adjacent to the clock applet.

Merging with the clock applet is not an option at this point.

The 'alarm-clock-applet' is an app I need and use nearly daily (often more than once) - I even changed the panel-icon (not THAT simple) ...
yeah, it's true, I'm still on 10.04 and downgraded immediately to current 0.2.6-2 after having tried out the new version in your PPA.

I assumed right that the main reason for the shift to the notification area was the tendency to minimize the function of the panel both in Gnome3 & Unity. Could you nevertheless maintain a panel-version or a panel-option?!

As it seems I have to shift to Xfce (as L. Torvalds did, you know) with Xubuntu 12.04 - will I be forced to use http://goodies.xfce.org/projects/panel-plugins/xfce4-timer-plugin?
