Netbook-launcher-efl occasionally displays cryptic error messages

I've seen this as well (I really thought you had an existing bug already for this but can't seem to locate it at the moment). Would be nice to have a reliable way to reproduce it, but I've had the same experience in seeing that it is very rare, and doesn't seem to relate to anything that I can tell that I'm doing to trigger it. Setting this to low since it doesn't seem to have much more than aesthetic impact at the moment.

Aha, I think I have a reliable way to reproduce this. Remove the SD card, reinsert the SD card. The hex code "error" I get seems to correspond to the UUID of the drive that just got reinserted.

Yup. There was an issue with how mountable drive errors were handled. We were printing the UUID instead of the error message! :) Has been fixed in 0.3.0 for a while now.

Ah, so that's what that was.

I tend to see this when mounting and unmounting filesystems by hand. This seems to confuse the launcher fairly reliably. I won't raise a separate bug unless that sounds like an important issue for people.

its kind of cosmetic; we might consider this for a SRU together with something higher prio ... would require a cherry pick though.

Yes, this seems to clear up the unusual error message before, but I see something new in its place. For instance, the first time I try to insert a USB stick, I get a GTK-looking popup box saying that it couldn't mount the filesystem, with a dbus error saying "An operation is already pending." However, a few seconds later, I get a nautilus launched with the filesystem mounted. So it seems like a timing thing.

However, after removing the usb stick and reinserting, I see an EFL-looking popup with what appears to be the same error:
Error mounting '549 MB Filesystem': DBus error org.gtk.Private.RemoteVolumeMonitor.Failed: An operation is already pending

So I'm wondering if maybe we still have this problem, but it just has a more useful error message than before.
