Bug Description

Hi,

It would be nice if you could mention in `man bzr' that Bazaar is part of the GNU project.
At least in 2.1.0, it doesn't seem to be mentioned.

Thanks.

Hi Jelmer,

When it say 'tags:added: doc gnu manpage'....does that mean that the work has been done?

Thanks
Paul

No, the tags are just for grouping bugs. The confirmed / fixed / etc status
describe whether it's done or not.

Ok, thanks, so where do I find the text for the man page so I can change it?

It's produced by bzrlib.doc_generate.autodoc_man and the fixed header
is in that file.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for your help. My apologies for my ignorance, but I can't find that file. I have downloaded the code using the command:

bzr branch lp:ubuntu/bzr

Could you point me to the file location exactly please?

Thanks
Paul

Hi again Martin,

Please ignore message #5 from me...I just clicked that the '.' in the file name you gave in message #5 is the folder name.....doh!
Thanks

Since the man page originates in the upstream bazaar project you
probably want to patch it in lp:bzr. That way other distributions
(Fedora, Debian, etc) that ship bazaar will also get the fix.

The metadata you changed earlier was specific to the version of bzr in
ubuntu, which is why the fix could only be made in lp:ubuntu/bzr.

Jelmer

Hi Jelmer,
I just did what I thought was propose the merge to the lp:bzr...
This is the link of what I just did....

Did I do it correctly?

Thanks

I just fixed the upload as you explained.

In this case should I change the 'Status' to 'In Progress' ?

Thanks

Hi Paul,

What Jelmer means in comment #7 is that you should branch from lp:bzr, and make your changes, commit and push (to eg lp:~/bzr/528254-gnu) and then propose merging that into lp:bzr.

lp:bzr is the original upstream branch and lp:ubuntu/bzr contains changes for packaging it in ubuntu.

The actual diff in <https://code.launchpad.net/~paulbrianstewart/ubuntu/oneiric/bzr/814311-typo-52825-manBzr/+merge/68752> is about right. I might tweak the phrasing a bit more because I think we should lead off with the most important bit; being a GNU project is important but probably less important to people reading the documentation than knowing just what it is.

Hi Martin,

The rewrite you did is great. I think you should go with that. It is more succinct than my version.

Thanks
Paul

p.s...shall I assign it back to you?
