text flashes when logging in from OSX terminal

It's going to have something to do with the type of terminal that is being emulated.

Can you try setting TERM to xterm, or something, in OSX's terminal application? I don't know anything about OSX, so I'll probably require some help debugging this.

Using OS X 10.6 I see the same thing from the Terminal.app program when I connect to both of my Ubuntu 9.10 servers.

I checked the preferences of the terminal app and under advanced; the setting "Delare Terminal As:" was set to XTERM (not sure if that is the default or if I changed it to that). I changed the setting to declare the terminal as xterm-color and that fixed the issue for me.

I think the best we can do is add a note to the manpage for byobu, under the bugs section. A similar issue issues with Putty, and that's the best we could do to solve that one.
