I am able to reproduce the crash.
Run terminator, Split horizontally, close the bottom tab.

This was fixed in trunk by revision 798 and will be in the next release.

I am still getting this, splitting the terminal horizontally and pressing Ctrl-D in the bottom tab will trigger the bug.
