The changelog does not mention that you bumped some Build-Depends versions and why.

I recommend to wrap the Build-Depends and fix some Lintian warnings (patch attached). You may want to switch to debhelper v7.

Please resubscribe ubuntu-universe-sponsors, when you are done.

Thanks, I've incorporated your changes and added a comment about the
bumped Build-Depends. I tried switching to debhelper 7, but I was
running into trouble with files not being installed, so I'll stick with
version 6.

Thanks for your work, I have uploaded it now. I have switched to debhelper v7 and it builds without problems. The files are installed correctly.

Is there an reason, why this package is only in Ubuntu and not in Debian?

It seems it'd be a lot of work to also maintain the package in debian,
especially since I don't run debian myself. Plus, easystroke is quite
sensitive to the xserver version and even debian unstable usually ships
horribly outdated X servers, so I'd have to deal with
debian/experimental and request syncs.
