Bug Description

Binary package hint: audacious

In audacious 2.1 russian encoding autodetection is broken, thus russian users anyway will have to rebuild audacious from source.
New upstream release also contains several bug fixes (including strange hangs while playing), deprecates some obsolete plugins.

Ping! Is there any progress? Will Lucid users have to use ppa versions as in Karmic?

Hi Vikram, did you get a chance to package audacious 2.2? If it's too late to include for lucid, then it would be nice to at least cherrypick some of the higher importance bug fixes.

I need your help, if audacity 2.3 should be land in lucid.

I have prepared audacity 2.3 from the Debian git repository in my PPA [1]. Please test the package and report any regression that you can find here. Let me know if it works for you and what kind of testing you did. You can gain extra credits if you find open Ubuntu bugs that are fixed in this version.

PPA builds have wait long after a freeze (in this case the freeze of main for the beta 2) is lifted. audacious is built, but audacious-plugins still waits.

Fix released for audacious 2.2 package.
Maybe create separate bug for 2.3 package?

What? We do not have audacious 2.2 in the archive. This bug was update to be the "package 2.3" bug.

Everything works but your version lacks "extra" decoders, so many formats cannot be played, e.g. wma. Please build "extra" package and let me know.

Benjamin Drung (bdrung) wrote :

The extra decoders were merged into the audacious-plugins package. Which plugins do you miss?

ffaudio. You can compare your list of plugins with mine (I've created a package via checkinstall):

Some build dependencies (libav*-dev) were missing. I have uploaded audacious-plugins 2.3-1~ppa2 to my PPA. Please test this package once it's build.

Generally I'm happy, just two tiny comments:
1) I did a quick grep in audacious-dev, looks like the added dependencies aren't needed and should rather be build-depends of audacious-plugins.
2) can you break the dependency loop (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=528588) and downgrade on of them to a recommends?

FFe granted.

audacious (2.3-1ubuntu1) lucid; urgency=low

  * Merge from Debian experimental (LP: #494604), remaining changes:
    - debian/control:
conflict with audacious-crossfade from hardy to prevent segfaults.
  * Drop all obsolete patches.

hi together,
this bug affects me too in Lucid.

I have the problem, that there is a problem with installing audacious-plugins-extra as well as audacious-plugins-dev.

the Synaptic gives me this error-message:

audacious-plugins-dev:
Hängt ab: audacious-plugins (=2.1-1ubuntu2), aber es wird 2.3-1ubuntu1 installiert
Hängt ab: audacious-plugins-extra, aber es wird nicht installiert
Hängt ab: audacious-dev (<2.2), aber es wird 2.3-1ubuntu1 installiert

But as long as these things are not working, I have no sound on any Video-track around in the Internet.

Please fix this up for Lucid.

Thank you for your understanding,

Linuxexperte

audacious-plugins-extra was merged into audacious-plugins and audacious-plugins-dev was removed. "sudo apt-get build-dep audacious-plugins" does the same. Just remove both packages.

Hello,

I can't use last.fm plugin. I think this merge is the cause.

Benjamin Drung (bdrung) wrote :

The last.fm plugin was buggy (according to upstream) and was removed in the 2.3 release.
