Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-session-bin

If the user checks or unchecks an application listed in the start applications window and quickly clicks on the close button, the changes to that application are not remembered. If however, the user checks or unchecks an application and waits about 5 seconds before hitting close, then the changes are stored.

This bug was fixed in the package gnome-session - 2.28.0-0ubuntu9

---------------
gnome-session (2.28.0-0ubuntu9) lucid; urgency=low

  * debian/gnome-session.install, debian/gnome-session-bin.install:
    - don't install the gnome-settings-daemon helper which sets a gtk1 variable
      since that gtk version is deprecated for some cycles
  * debian/patches/91_git_change_correct_capplet_update.patch:
    - git update to fix changes not being stored by the session capplet sometime
      (lp: #444993)
  * debian/gnome-session.preinst:
    - clean deprecated autostart conffiles on upgrade (lp: #146918,#457104)

Karmic is the current version, the official one.

Fixes always go in to the development branch first, and then we can backport some patches to supported releases where appropriate (following the guidelines at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates).

I'm not sure it's worth fixing in Karmic really. Everyone is busy working on Lucid at the moment, this bug is not high priority and there is also an easy workaround for it too. It's not the sort of bug that most users are going to notice, and only a very small number of people reported the issue too.

as a side note, i noticed if you hit the X button to close the windows, the settings are remembered regardless.
