mplayerthumbs can't make thumbnails

Bug Description

Binary package hint: mplayerthumbs

Kubuntu Karmic Koala (alpha-3) / KDE 4.3.0 / mplayerthumbs (1.2-kde4.3.0-0ubuntu1)

The mplayerthumbs (1.2-kde4.3.0-0ubuntu1) doesn't generate thumbnails. It there are existing thumbnails the Dolphin will show them but the mplayerthumbs won't generate new.

The older version of the mplayerthumbs (1.2-0ubuntu1) is working fine when downgrading the mplayerthumbs package.

How to reproduce:

Clean the thumbnail cache with the "sweeper"
Go to the directory with the .avi, mpg, wmv files. Turn the preview on. Nothing happens..
Downgrade the mplayerthumbs to 1.2-0ubuntu1.
Go to the directory with the .avi, .mpg or .wmv files. Turn the preview on. The mplayerthumbs will start to generate thumbnails. Dolphin will show them.

After my upgrade to karmic, thumbnailing wasn't working as before ;(

Espacially wmv-files have problems and thumbnailing seems slower than with jaunty's mplayerthumbs-package.

As I read this bug, I downgraded to jaunty's version and all is working well again!

You should file a new bug at bugs.kde.org. This one is fixed, though you may be experiencing one with similar symptoms.
