Bug Description

Debian has a new version to be merged

powersave (0.15.20-6) unstable; urgency=low

  * debian/copyright
    - Reference the versioned GPL-2 file instead of the GPL symlink.
  * debian/control
    - Bump Standards-Version to 3.8.2. No further changes.
    - Bump Build-Depends on debhelper to (>= 7).
    - Bump Depends on lsb-base to (>= 3.2-14) for status_of_proc.
  * debian/compat
    - Bump debhelper compat level to 7.
  * debian/powersaved.preinst
    - Use "set -e" instead of "#!/bin/sh -e".
  * debian/rules
    - Include debhelper.mk before autotools.mk as recommended by the cdbs
      documentation.
    - Drop DEB_SHLIBS_INCLUDE, no longer necessary.
  * debian/powersaved.init
    - Use global PIDFILE variable.
    - Add "status" action using status_of_proc from lsb-base.

Your patch includes dropping misc:Depends on two packages, but I don't see where this is mentioned in debian/changelog. Please investigate this change and see if it's still necessary to keep.

That was a change carried over by previous 2 versions

please see:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/powersave/+bug/326114

and I ve removed it as its not necessary in new version

attached is the new diff

What justifies it being removed? In the bug you provided, was the change carried forward, or made alongside the merge (if so, for what reason)?

Ok again referring to

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/powersave/+bug/312846

it was a lintian override

and here is the fixed detailed description

I'm not sure I understand what lintian warning this fixes. From what I can see dropping the misc:Depends is causing lintian errors, not fixing them:

$ lintian powersave_0.15.20-6ubuntu1_source.changes
W: powersave source: debhelper-but-no-misc-depends libpowersave11
W: powersave source: debhelper-but-no-misc-depends libpowersave-dev

It's a bit confusing when you've referenced two different bugs, neither of which obviously justify the matter at hand. Perhaps I'm just in need of a better explanation.

Also in the future, please be more specific in your changelog entries and actually mention what lintian error you are fixing.

Thats the reason I stated above, perhaps my english needs a bit polishing I presume.. That error was overriden by dropping that change and keeping the debian one as it is .. the diff the 2nd one what I have attached is right one I believe ...
