Bug Description

If explore my filesystem with Nautilus, when I select a file with .theme extension it's type change from "Theme File" to "Desktop Configuration File".

Thus when I try to open this file I get an error message that says: "Cannot show...... The position is not a folder"

Sorry but maybe the error message it's quite different in English, I use the IT locale

Can you please attach the theme file? What sort of theme file is that? Should you be able to open in the normal case?

Thanks for reporting this.

Carthik, you can try with any theme, they ship an index.theme

Claudio what would you expect happening when clicking on them? Getting the theme applied?

Because it's a text file, I expect to show it in GEdit.

I think that Nautilus recognize it like a folder: in the context menu I don't have "Open with other application".

Now, after the last upgrade Nautilus don't show anymore the file name (index.theme), but the Theme name

I can confirm this.

To reproduce, I tried with the Ubuntu Smooth Orange theme's index.theme file (http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=37533 ). Nautilus displays that icon as "Human" and cannot open the theme file.

I have attached a screenshot of the same.

When I right click on the file, there is no "Open with.." item in the context menu, so indeed, there appears to be no way to open that file in a text editor using Nautilus.

To reproduce, you don't need theme. Any text file named foobar.theme will display the same behaviour.

This screenshots shows being unable to open an index.theme file in Dapper on Apr 7, 2006.

Message is not displayed in Nautilus 3.0, but 'Open With..' dialog is not available, so the file cannot be opened using editor (e.g. gedit)
