Bug Description

I upgraded from Intrepid to Jaunty and Python 2.6 can't find the module
Python 2.6.1+ (r261:67515, Mar 19 2009, 14:00:56)
[GCC 4.3.3] on linux2
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.
>>> import pymsn
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module>
ImportError: No module named pymsn

Launching python2.5 manually and importing it works fine.

Indeed dpkg-reconfigure python-msn fix the problem.

The package needs to be rebuilt for 2.6

dpkg-reconfigure is just a band-aid. The package needs to be rebuilt for 2.6.

Running 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure python-msn' doesn't fix this for me on Jaunty with empathy 2.27.91.1 - should it?

Olivier Le Thanh Duong (olethanh) wrote :

If you have Empathy 2.27.9.1, you probably have the newer version of telepathy-butterfly which now use python-papyon and not python-msn, and that make this bug entirely different. Please open a separate bug with butterfly and/or empathy logs if you can, the network error message is a generic error message so it doesn't us what the problem is
