psi + QT 4.5 hang on chat window

I can also confirm this bug. Pretty annoying, I would vote to priorize it higher.

As a workaround, I have installed psi 0.13beta from this PPA:

This doesn't have the problem.

Looking at the attachments in this bug report, I noticed that an attachment was not flagged as a patch. A patch contains changes to an Ubuntu package that will resolve a bug and this attachment is one! Subsequently, I've checked the patch flag for it. In the future when submitting patches please use the patch checkbox as there are some Launchpad searches that use this feature. Even with 0.13-dev there is not complete support for QT 4.5, but the patch for *this* bug is commit d440f16e1241915fed1d859c93ab54cb738112af in upstream ( http://github.com/psi-im/psi/commit/d440f16e1241915fed1d859c93ab54cb738112af ).
If a MOTU want to fix this, there is the patch.

I can confirm that psi package version 0.12-2 from universe repo has this bug that when you try to write text in "chat" window psi freezes, but in "send message" window doesn't freeze. When app is freezing, psi does not output any error message in console. The 0.13-svn~maarten5 version from ppa mentioned before solves the problem.

i have bug like this in 9.04, but console output is

Aspell error: No word lists can be found for the language "ru_RU".

when i tried to switch off spell check, switcher wasn't available.
then i installed aspell-ru from repo, but bug repeated
Then i checked menu and found that switcher became available and i finally switch it off, and now all works fine but without check-spelling.

I can confirm that the problem went away when you deselect spell-checking.

So the workaround is the following:

General - Options - Misc -> Remove "check spelling" flag.

I've applied patch from http://github.com/psi-im/psi/commit/d440f16e1241915fed1d859c93ab54cb738112af, compiled on amd64 and i386 and tested for a while. Seems to work so debdiff attached.

Ack from motu-release for an upload, but please set the maintainer and if the package already has a patch system, use it.

Fixed Maintainer field (I was sure It was fine.. well, Now I'll check it twice before submitting patch).
psi package doesn't use any patch system so neither do I.
