Bug Description

Binary package hint: mfc9160lpr

When trying to install mfc9169lpr on Ubuntu Ubuntu hardy (development branch) beta
i get an error message

Since my Ubuntu is in German i try to translate it as accurate as possible:

The following packages have unresolved dependencies
  mfc9160lpr: Depends on : brother-lpr-drivers-laser1 shouldn't be installed

I tried then to install the package brother-lpr-drivers-laser1 manually,
but then installing the package mfc9160lpr didn't work ether.

Thanks for your bug report! Unfortunately, you are right. This behavior is not really great so we recently took the decision to remove transitional packages like mfc9160lpr from ubuntu repositories to avoid that kind of problems. mfc9160lpr packages does not contains drivers, it is in fact a link to the brother-lpr-drivers-laser1 package which is the right one you need to have your printer working ( and brother-cups-wrapper-laser1 ).

Note : The laser1 packages are known to not work yet, maybe you can wait for the packages to get updated in the next days before you try to install your printer again.
