Bug Description

Binary package hint: xfce4-mcs-manager

I'm currently using Xubuntu 7.10, running Xfce version 4.4.1. The bug is that I've enabled Sticky Keys in the Accessibility options using the Xfce4 Settings Manager (Setting > Keyboard Settings > Accessibility), and yet, very randomly, Sticky Keys gets disabled on its own. This is unlike the bug related to Sticky Keys in the GNOME version, which only happens after bootup. Sticky Keys can get disabled at ANY point of time while using the system, and it's not caused by any specific instance (starting a particular program, etc). The strange thing is that when I go to the same place again, the Sticky Keys option is still activated. Deactivating, and then again activating Sticky Keys solves the problem, but it can occur again during the same session.

Could you have a look at ~/.xsession-errors when the bug appears? The file might contain informations about when happened.
Thanks

I checked the ~/.xsession-errors file but I couldn't find any information related to this particular problem, as far as I can make out, that is. Nevertheless, I'm attaching the ~/.xsession-errors file from my system after the error (Sticky Keys getting deactivated) occurred. Maybe that'll help someone figure out what's going wrong.

I think the bug shouldn't be marked as incomplete, for I did provide the file asked for. It'd be sad if this thread gets deleted after 60 days...

Sergio Zanchetta: Would you mind checking previous status before changing these. This bug was triaged, the developer worked it, and asked if it was still valid in Jaunty 9.04. If it is still valid, the status should be left for that developer or changed back to "triaged". Thanks.

The task in "triaged" state was the "xfce-mcs-plugins" one.

I marked the OTHER task, "xfce4-settings", AS it was previously, that is "New".

It was "New", then "Incomplete" waiting for news, then Ankur reported it's still present in Jaunty and then I marked it as its previuos state, "New".
Thanks.

Just to bring to your notice, this bug is _almost_ identical to Bug #153518, but that's in Gnome. I figured out a workaround to solve the issue (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/at-spi/+bug/153518/comments/25). I hope that helps in narrowing down what the issue is in Xfce / Gnome.

In attempting to reproduce this bug in both Xubuntu 9.04 and Xubuntu Lucid Lynx, I am able to select sticky keys from Applications -> Settings -> Accessibility. Unfortunately, it fails to work. Looking at the .desktop file in /usr/share/applications/ for Accessibility, the exec file should be xfce4-accessibility-settings. This package does not exist in a default installation, since the package does not exist in Xubuntu. This means it is not really possible to set the sticky keys option correctly.

Sorry about the previous comments. It seems the desktop file is fine, but this is still broken in Lucid. I don't what is causing it to reset, but it does turn off sticky keys after a few minutes idle (5 or less). The screensaver has not activated, so it is not involved. There are no errors in ~/.xsession-error log except devils-pie.

Just to make a not here, the same error exists in GNOME too. A bug report exists for that exists at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/at-spi/+bug/153518
