Bug Description

Soon app namespaces will be

   appname.devname

plus official apps which will be just appname .

The old reverse domain namespaces (com.ubuntu.developer.<...>) will stay around for a while for old apps.

This bug tracks the effort of moving our infrastructure, docs and tools over.

With the fix being in qtcreator-plugin-ubuntu now, we have to fix the other bits quickly. New apps will have the new namespace set and won't build in QtCreator or get into MyApps.

No panic yet, this release is available only in Vivid. The real release is when the 14.10 and 14.04 releases hit the SDK PPA. The plan is to wait all the key components with that.

For the developer site, let's wait until click, myApps and click-reviewers-tools are updated and backported.

Can't submit a new app right now:

Does anyone know if there's actually a 'click' component in this bug?

There shouldn't be anything for click. click-apparmor doesn't care and click doesn't seem to either as evidenced on snappy alpha 1. That said, it would be good for someone to install a package with one of these new names on the phone just to be triply sure. ;)

Ok. I just installed a package on the phone with the new name format and it worked just fine.

So it looks like we're just missing myApps and then the docs.

Hi,

The store now accepts the new style. The old style is still accepted, but developers signing up
to the site today will find it hard to use it because they can't set their old-style namespace.

You can go ahead and make any changes that expect the new style to work live.

Thanks,

James

We now have to wait for qtcreator-plugin-ubuntu to be backported in the SDK Release PPA.

Bug 1412777 needs to be coordinated with this as well.

With the above bug fixed and a qtcreator-plugin-ubuntu backport on the way, we need to figure out which parts of the docs need updating.

On the list are:

 - https://developer.ubuntu.com/apps/platform/guides/app-confinement/
 - https://developer.ubuntu.com/publish/

Anything else?

Looks like the SDK was also backported with this fix. Only thing left to do are docs.
