Bug Description
if developer mode is enabled and you unset the password of the device, through the "Security after lock" link the developer mode page offers, the developer mode switch is not updated according to the actual developer mode status. un-setting the password via the actual security page from the system-settings front page and going back to developer mode, the switch properly reflects the developer mode status. the "going back" function needs to refresh the developer mode page to fix this.

this seems to have an impact on mtp behavior as well.
