This is what I did:

- Installed ibus-hangul (actually it's installed automatically if you
install Korean from Language Support, so you shouldn't need to
  install it explicitly).

- Logged out and logged in again.

- Added Korean Hangul via Text Entry.

- Clicked the input source indicator and switched to Hangul.

With that I could enter some funny (supposedly Korean) characters. ;-)

Yes, it's broken. Currently you can make it work by changing to something else and then back to Super+Space. But that's not good enough.

I have been told it will be fixed, and it really should be. Otherwise they should change to some default that works (e.g. Ctrl+Shift L).

This is not about using Text Entry *or* IBus. Text Entry makes use of IBus behind the scenes.

Some people dislike the 13.10 and 14.04 implementation of keyboard layouts and input methods. But from a docs writing POV that's irrelevant. 14.04, which is a LTS, will be shipped with the Text Entry GUI, so we should try to fix the docs accordingly.

Today, on an updated 14.04, I was able to use Super+Space as the keyboard shortcut for switching to next input source. So that problem seems to have been fixed.

Thanks for your work, John!

The approach in the proposed document is to provide conditional guidance depending on version. However, that's not how the official desktop guide works. The desktop guide always targets a specific version, and the current development version is 14.04. Consequently I don't see how the contents of your document would easily fit the desktop guide.

One important point you make is about the need to install IBus IM engines - which typically is done by installing corresponding languages - to be able to use input methods. I just committed a note about that.

I also added a note about the brand new button in Text Entry which lets you open the setup dialog for the selected input method.

I see no need to include anything about ibus-setup, though. Text Entry takes over the functionality of ibus-setup, so to speak. Please let us know if you still anticipate situations where it makes sense to use ibus-setup in 14.04.

I have updated http://people.ubuntu.com/~gunnarhj/keyboard-layouts.html with the latest additions. Do you think it's sufficient now as regards Ubuntu 14.04?

Hi Gunnar, yes it does seem sufficient. I'll give this a test on Ubuntu 14.04 VM and will let you know.

Sorry for the long delay. I realized your latest comment just now.
