Bug Description

I have built gnome-system-monitor 3.7.90 on raring and things seem to work fine. The requirement is GTK+ 3.6, which is already available in the repos, as is gtk-mm 3.4

There are several improvements in the new system monitor:
- Updated to GTK 3.6 - color dialogs, appmenu support added, gtkapplication support
- Proper policykit support for renice and kill
- Fixed various memory leaks

The attachment "Debdiff 3.6.1->3.7.90" of this bug report has been identified as being a patch in the form of a debdiff. The ubuntu-sponsors team has been subscribed to the bug report so that they can review and hopefully sponsor the debdiff. In the event that this is in fact not a patch you can resolve this situation by removing the tag 'patch' from the bug report and editing the attachment so that it is not flagged as a patch. Looks good. I'm not quite sure what the Desktop team's plans are wrt GNOME3.7, but you might want to update your changelog entry to look a bit more like this:

+gnome-system-monitor (3.7.90-0ubuntu1) raring; urgency=low
+
+ * New upstream release (LP: #1130956). Many bugs fixed, among them:
+ + Do not use deprecated API, update color selection dialog (LP: #972472)
+ + Removed old workaround for retaining tree selection (LP: #958958)
+ + Added policykit support for privileges for killing/renicing other
+ users' processes (LP: #983127)
+ + Show running process state for processes with changed cpu time
+ (LP: #174164)
+ * debian/control.in: updated build-depends (newer GTK, GTKMM).
+

This way all the bugs will be closed automatically.

Regarding desktop team status and GNOME 3.7, I don't know the status either, but as I did see a ticket for updating nautilus to 3.7.90 (LP: #1130746), I thought I'd file one for system monitor too, and it's even easier, and it does not depend on anything not available in the repos.

I talked to Sebastien. As long as you are willing to update to the final 3.8 version as well, this is okay.

Not sure why Launchpad didn't close this automatically.

Sorry, it's because powerpc is badly lagging again, so it wasn't built there yet.

Of course, I will also propose a merge for updating to 3.8 as soon as it comes out.
