Bug Description

Binary package hint: clamsmtp

Problem in 'update-manager' Feisty Fawn Release. Entire message was 'subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 2' and somrthing about including "../ver/log/dist-upgrade" whatever that is. Sorry, I'm not too fluent in Linux as yet.

The problem is that the post-installation script is not creating the directory for the pid file. If you create the directory manually, the install will finish.

$ sudo mkdir /var/run/clamsmtp
$ sudo apt-get upgrade

Should correct the problem.

I followed you instructions and was told the directory already existed. So, I did the 2nd instruction and that seemed to have worked. Thanks.

  * Stop postinst from bailing out when which newaliases doesn't return

clamsmtp (1.8-5.2ubuntu3) gutsy; urgency=low

  * In postinst (LP: #108303):
    - Ensure /var/spool/clamsmtp exists before setting clamsmtp home dir
    - Change /var/spool permissions after creating user
    - Make adduser --quiet so postinst only does exit 2 for real errors
