Bug Description

In upstream revision 12743 of rosegarden, an endless loop situation related to MIDI import and recording was fixed. A lubuntu user reported this bug upstream recently. The attached patch is the fix. Please add this to Ubuntu's rosegarden build for Precise. (Quantal should already have the fix as it is in rosegarden 12.04.) You can verify the authenticity of this patch at rosegarden's sourceforge site:

http://rosegarden.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/rosegarden?view=revision&revision=12743

The actual patch:

http://rosegarden.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/rosegarden/trunk/rosegarden/src/base/SegmentNotationHelper.cpp?view=patch&r1=12743&r2=12742&pathrev=12743

Let me know if there are further steps I need to take to ensure that this ends up in lubuntu. Thanks!

Chris Halse Rogers (raof) wrote : Please test proposed package

Hello Ted, or anyone else affected,

Accepted rosegarden into precise-proposed. The package will build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rosegarden/1:11.11.42-1ubuntu1.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please change the bug tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not, change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance!

Thanks for the fix. I've tested this twice now and it appears to be working fine in precise.

BTW, the upstream bug tracker just changed and the new bug number is 1331.

This bug was fixed in the package rosegarden - 1:11.11.42-1ubuntu1.1

  * Avoid hanging on when importing/recording MIDI. (LP: #1019400)
In some situations a MIDI event could be unsplittable, so add a check
to make sure the notation duration is truncated to the event duration
to prevent entering an endless loop.
